Tennis

We offer some of the best facilities and playing opportunities in the South West, within a friendly and welcoming club environment.

Our facilities are often used to host LTA competitions.  We have 11 tennis courts which include 3 Astroturf, 4 artificial clay and 4 hard courts.  Floodlights are available until 9.30/10pm on 8 courts (Courts 1-7 and Centre in the diagram below).  Planning permission was granted in August 2022 for a new install of floodlights onto Courts 8-10 which is now being factored into the committee‘s development plans to be put to members.  We are still awaiting a planning decision on replacing our existing floodlights (with LEDs and an improved side-lit configuration, as per the application for Courts 8-10).

All courts are maintained to a high standard by our groundsman, providing year-round play for our members.  There is a club shop for equipment and advice, and on-site restringing services.

Floodlighting is provided free-of-charge for some club-sponsored tennis activities, such as club play and team tennis practice, otherwise members pay for their own floodlights as required – there are coin boxes by the squash courts which take new £1 coins, with £1 currently providing 30 mins of light.  Ex-match balls are provided on request to the bar for club play, otherwise members should provide their own balls.

We also have a Table Tennis table which can be used in Squash Court 2 by members – please see our Squash page for more information.

We hope you will find the Lansdown Club a friendly and relaxed place to play.  Please ask any member about any processes or practices you are unsure of.
