Join us for a game of Bridge

Bridge activities were suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic but have now returned – running on the first Wednesday of every month, with greater frequency/other nights being introduced if there is demand.  See our Events Diary for dates**

Bridge is usually played in the enclosed Snug area of the clubroom, which ensures relative peace and quiet but still gives good access to the bar for drinks!  Where numbers suggest we will have 4 tables or more, we will move to the main Clubroom instead.

We are a friendly and sociable group, welcoming any members or non-members who are reasonably confident players with a knowledge of ACOL bidding – you will need to be able to play ‘unassisted’ bridge however you can refer to crib notes to aid your bidding if this doesn’t slow the game down unduly.  We use bidding boxes – if you are unfamiliar with non-verbal bidding we can show you how to use these.

Sessions will begin at 6.45pm for a 7pm start, ending at approximately 9.45pm.  There is no fee to play.

You will play with the same partner throughout the evening – we recommend you come with a partner if possible (so we have even numbers and you can practice your partnership play) however we should be able to match you with a partner if you come alone.  We will aim to accommodate all comers however if there are uneven numbers or we max out on tables, there may be occasions when players need to sit-out rounds, which will be on a rotational basis – an opportunity to drink and chat or play some practice rounds whilst waiting!

It is helpful to know numbers in advance as much as possible, so we can set out tables – please sign up on our online Events sheet (see Useful Links in our members website) or let Mary Sage know.   You can sign up as a partnership or indicate that you need a partner, which may work to attract yourself a partner or help us to match-make you into a pair.
